NUTRITIONAL NUGGET – D is for… Dates

You only need to eat three dried dates to get one of your fruit and veg portions for the day. Although all the sweetness comes naturally from the fruit, it’s often easy to overeat dried fruits, so watch your portion size. They’re a great food for refuelling quickly after a tough gym session.

Check out these 3 ways to enjoy dates:

1. Tear your favourite fresh herbs and salad leaves, and top them with some pine nuts and dates for an exotic salad

2. Use dates as an ingredient to make Raw Chocolate Brownie Balls

3. Slit a dried date and fill it with slivers of almond butter for a sweet and crunchy snack
